About the Founder

Stephen Satter

Stephen Satterfield is an award-winning food writer, multimedia producer, and founder of Whetsone Media. Satterfield grew up in Georgia, with his father being the primary cook. He founded the Institutional Society of Africans in Wine, a non-profit that focuses on supporting Black and indigenous wine workers in South Africa. His career is centered around cuisine; he shares black culture and a non-eurocentric narrative in his work.
