Dr. Jiong Ma, PHD

Dr. Jiong Ma, PhD is a seasoned investor, board leader, and technology executive with more than 25 years of experience building, scaling, and financing high‑growth technology and deep tech companies. She brings multidisciplinary expertise across venture investing, corporate strategy, product innovation, and board governance in sectors including digital health, cleantech, energy transition, and industrial innovation.

Dr. Ma currently serves on the boards of SES AI Corporation (NYSE: SES) and LinkinVax, a clinical‑stage biotechnology company, and is Chair of the Board at Anavex Life Sciences Corporation (Nasdaq: AVXL), where she contributes strategic guidance for growth and innovation. She was previously Senior Partner and Investment Committee member at Braemar Energy Ventures, leading investments in resource efficiency, mobility, industrial digitization, renewable energy, and deep tech, and earlier served in the Venture Capital Group at 3i, where she led investments across digital health, technology, media, and cleantech.

Before her investment career, Dr. Ma held senior technical and business leadership roles at Lucent Technologies and Bell Labs, where she led product strategy, new product launches, and research and development in optical and data networking, and was a founding team member of fiber‑networks startup Onetta.

Dr. Ma holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder, an MS in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and a BS in Physics and Electrical Engineering from Lanzhou University in China. She is also a Kauffman Fellow, underscoring her leadership in venture capital and innovation ecosystems.
